The 15th august is the most important day in the history of India. On this fortunate day our country became free after many centuries. The British left India with bag and baggage.
Preparation for the day:
We celebrate this day with great zeal every year. This year great preparations were made in the school. Every one of us was eager to take part in the Independent Day Celebration. The vice principal drew up a programme which was announced by the principal on the 13th august.
Programme of the Day:
Early in the morning of the 15th August we gathered in the school playground. Our teachesr also joined us in a few minutes. We went round the school singing the national songs. Our younger companions were full of great enthusiasm. They were shouting the slogans at the top of their voice. Their singing and expressing our patriotic feelings.
In the school we stood round the flag pole. We were asked to stand class wise. In our school uniform we looked like soldiers The teachers stood behind us. On our Principal’s request, the founder of the school, our beloved Baba, came forward to perform the flag-hoisting ceremony. Exactly at eight the flag was hoisted. We stood in attention to give salute to the flag.
After the flag ceremony Jana Gana Mana was sung. The scouts’ band played the tune. The flag ceremony came to a close with a speech from our beloved Baba. Baba threw light on the importance of the day and our duties towards the country. In the end, all were given chocolates.
In the afternoon, all the students and the teachers assembled in the school auditorium. The principal asked us to assemble round the field to take part in the school activities. They were held with great enthusiasm. Those who stood first and second in the various sports got prizes from the holy hands of our beloved Baba. After enjoying the grand illumination in the school we returned home in happy mood.
Thus we celebrated our Independence Day in our school. This day always remind me of the untold sacrifices of the fighters of freedom. We should worship those patriots who shed their blood for achieving Freedom.
